Today, I would like to introduce a case involving a patient who has experienced chest sagging due to a remarkable weight loss of 40kg.
There is a well-known saying that goes, "The best plastic surgery is diet," underscoring the importance of achieving desired results through natural means. However, it's essential to recognize that weight loss of 10kg or more, especially through rapid or yo-yo dieting, can lead to certain aesthetic concerns, including skin sagging.
In this case, the patient's weight loss journey has resulted in sagging of the chest area. This scenario highlights the challenges that can arise when substantial weight loss is achieved without proper guidance and consideration of the body's adjustments.
Before we proceed further, let's take a look at the patient's chest appearance before undergoing any surgical intervention.
This visual representation demonstrates the effects of significant weight loss on the chest area, emphasizing the importance of holistic approaches to weight management that consider both health and aesthetic outcomes. The patient's journey underscores the need for a comprehensive approach to addressing body changes resulting from extensive weight loss.
As we delve into this case, we will explore potential solutions and considerations for helping patients achieve balanced and desirable outcomes after significant weight loss.
The overall body appears slender, but there is noticeable skin sagging. In this photo, the sagging of the breasts is particularly prominent, and excess skin is evident on the arms and waist.
When describing the condition of the breasts in detail, the position of the nipples is 28cm from the collarbone (the Korean average is 18-19 cm). Additionally, the upper part of the chest appears flat. The natural position for nipples when viewed from the front is slightly outward, but in this patient's case, due to sagging breasts, the nipples appear to be pulled inward along the direction of the chest's lower curve.
For this patient, an increase in breast volume was not desired, instead she wanted a natural volume and shape using their own tissues. Therefore, a "Vertical Incision Breast Lift" was performed to address the sagging and a "Mammary Gland Rearrangement" was carried out to create a fuller breast contour.
This is the appearance 9 months post-surgery. The noticeable breast sagging that was evident before surgery is no longer present. The upper breast volume is now naturally filled, and the nipple position appears normal without being inwardly directed.
The surgical scars have healed well and are inconspicuous. This wasn't just a nipple lift; it was a comprehensive procedure to enhance the overall breast line with volume using the "Vertical Incision Breast Lift" and "Mammary Gland Rearrangement."
